Legal Administrative Assistant Course

OC-ALA is proud to sponsor two educational courses.  Both courses seek to enhance the education of legal staff personnel and to recruit potential candidates from outside the legal field.   

Award-Winning Legal Administrative Assistant Course, formerly known as Legal Secretary Course
This 9-week course is for entry-level legal secretaries or other entry-level personnel interested in becoming legal secretaries. The course provides basic instruction on such topics as computers, general legal knowledge, beginning civil litigation, transactions and several areas of law. Guest speakers are from law firms and include administrators, attorneys, paralegals, legal secretaries, computer specialists and more.  The 2014 course is scheduled for September 20, 2014 through November 15, 2014 at the Orange County Bar Association Headquarters, 4101 Westerly Place, Newport Beach, CA 92660.  Registration is now open to the public. 

Litigation Course
This 5-week course is for graduates of the Award-Winning Legal Administrative Assistant Course, formerly known as Legal Secretary Course or for legal secretaries with at least one year of experience.  This course's emphasis in litigation will enhance any litigation secretary's knowledge of docket rules, motions and trial practice. Classes are planned for March through April 2015. More details will be available by January 2015.
